it would be useful if when doing (for ex) emerge -up world and some packages appear as 'U' (need to update), then portage output the current version of this package.  i often do a lot of 'emerge search XX' to know if i'm really interested in updating this package or not (for ex, that i'm not interested:  *  x11-libs/qt       Latest version Available: 3.0.5-r2       Latest version Installed: 3.0.5 as i have no pb with qt, and it's so looong to compile)
