Description J Robert Ray 2002-08-29 20:15:07 UTC
Kismet can work with orinoco cards, but only after being patched with the "Snax
monitor patch" as mentioned here: http://www.kismetwireless.net/capture.shtml

I created an ebuild that applies this patch, it expects to find the patch in
${FILESDIR} called 'pcmcia-cs-3.2.0-orinoco.patch', and it is applied if the
user had USE'd wavelan. There probably should be another USE variable or
something to give the user more control over if this patch is used or not.

The Snax monitor patch comes from here: http://airsnort.shmoo.com/orinocoinfo.html

I used: http://airsnort.shmoo.com/pcmcia-cs-3.2.0-orinoco-patch.diff

I have committed and masked pcmcia-cs-3.2.1-r2 with this patch. Please test it.

Can anyone test if this patch is already included in latest orinoco-driver? I
recently updated pcmcia-cs to 3.2.3 and added orinoco 0.13a.

I haven't heard any complaints, so I am going to assume these changes are fine.
 Closing.
