The first attempt to tinderbox a musl image failed at all. I'll mass close therefore all filed bug reports of the last days related to this tinderbox image. Please feel free to re-open if you think that the bug is real in musl and not fixed by the musl overlay.
I think something broke gen_usr_ldscript: * ERROR: sys-fs/xfsprogs-5.5.0::gentoo failed (install phase): * unable to read SONAME from libhandle.so * * Call stack: * ebuild.sh, line 125: Called src_install * environment, line 1579: Called gen_usr_ldscript '-a' 'handle' * environment, line 937: Called die * The specific snippet of code: * [[ -z ${tlib} ]] && die "unable to read SONAME from ${lib}";
Probably due to bug #717300

I just ran into this today when doing an emerge --upgrade --deep --newuse @world with xfsprogs-5.4.0-r1 which is marked as stable. It appears xfsprogs's install phase installs to /usr/lib64, so when get_usr_ldscript calls get_libdir() which returns /usr/lib, it looks in the wrong directory for libhandle.so.
Created attachment 635888 [details, diff] Force-library-install-path.patch After applying this patch to the ebuild it installs just fine. It would appear that by default xfsprogs now installs into lib64 on 64bit archs.
Created attachment 635890 [details] build.log I am aware I have a couple of patches that are not in overlay or tree, they are not required. If someone can nail down how to duplicate this issue would be much appreciated. The only thing I have different is portage is patched for a scanelf bug that was found by slyfox.
Jory, duplicating appears to be relatively trivial. Don't set any ABI* variables in /etc/make.conf, use the default/linux/amd64/17.0/musl/hardened profile. Attempt to emerge >=sys-fs/xfsprogs-5.4.0-r1 The package will install to /lib64, and gen_usr_ldscript will look for it in /lib, failing during the package install. Output of emerge --info: Portage 2.3.89 (python 3.6.10-final-0, default/linux/amd64/17.0/musl/hardened, gcc-9.3.0, musl-1.1.24, 5.4.28-gentoo-x86_64 x86_64) This is still not correct, I do not set an ABI via make.conf, the profile is the default we use for development. So without a proper way to duplicate the bug, I am unable to address it.

I'll wipe/re-install and see if I can reproduce the issue for you. (In reply to Jory A. Okay this bug is completely invalid. We have a patched gcc in the overlay for a reason and expect musl users to use the overlay for gcc/binutils/lld. This is effectively an issue where lib64 is set in gcc due to multilib being accepted as acceptable for musl users.
Next autobuilds will use sys-devel/gcc::musl instead of main tree.
