Description eric.williams 2004-11-09 08:18:50 UTC
Installation of ut2004-3323 fails with a rather odd message. I am using the 6 CD version, if that matters.

I was able to install it into /usr/local/ut2004 using the on-disc script but that doesn't have the 3323 patch, so the game generally works.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Buy the game. :-)
2. emerge ut2004
3.

Actual Results:
./root/
./root/.loki/
./root/.loki/installed/
./root/.loki/installed/ut2004.xml
tbz2tool: bin.tar.bz2 doesn't exist
mv: cannot stat `ut2004-3323.tbz2': No such file or directory

!!! ERROR: games-fps/ut2004-3323 failed.
!!! Function dyn_package, Line 912, Exitcode 1
!!! Failed to move tbz2 to /usr/portage_packages.aurigae/All
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

Expected Results:
I would expect a successful install.

FEATURES="-buildpkg" emerge ut2004

Your system doesn't have enough RAM (or disk space) to build a 6GB binary package. My suggesttion would be to turn the feature off for this package, or remove it altogether.
Comment 2 Evan Davies 2004-11-26 19:35:20 UTC
I have exactly the same problem. My drive where the package is built and stored has 53% disk space free, this being on a 120G drive.
System Specs are
120G SATA Drive 53% used
1G Ram
P4 3.0Ghz
Comment 3 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-27 06:01:23 UTC
Unless your system has >6GB of RAM, you will always get this error...

FEATURES="-buildpkg" emerge ut2004

...is the only solution.
