Hi, user. We need to talk.
I think something's gone wrong here. It's probably my fault.
No, really, it's not you... it's me... no no no, I think we get along well
it's just that.... well, I want to see other people. I... what?!? NO! I haven't
been cheating on you!! How many times do you want me to tell you?! And for the
last time, it's just a rash!

i'm not sure why gaim's symbols aren't in the core dump...maybe the ebuild

See gaim's instructions for dealing with malloc() items in the backtrace.

Comment 3 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-11 11:07:09 UTC
Please let me know what version of gaim you are using.
Comment 4 Timmy Douglas 2004-11-11 13:06:00 UTC
1.0.2
Comment 5 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-28 14:45:29 UTC
Just to make sure, can you upgrade to 1.0.3 and try again?
Comment 6 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-13 10:59:32 UTC
You haven't responded so I'm resolving NEEDINFO. Please test with gaim-1.1.0.
Comment 7 Timmy Douglas 2004-12-13 15:03:49 UTC
what? so you just want me to wait and keep upgrading as new releases come out and try to reproduce the bug? i can't reproduce the bug myself, it's only when someone sends me a malformed message.
Comment 8 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-14 07:39:11 UTC
Yes. It is pointless to keep testing old versions when new versions with bug fixes are there. There is always a chance that your particular bug was already filed upstream and fixed.
Comment 9 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-14 07:40:51 UTC
*** Bug 67030 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 10 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-14 11:37:50 UTC
You still haven't given me the information I need to help debug things. emerge gaim-1.1.1 and test again.
