Why not look at these instead:

[ 12.890178] NVRM: The NVIDIA probe routine was not called for 1 device(s).
[ 12.890179] NVRM: This can occur when a driver such as:
NVRM: nouveau, rivafb, nvidiafb or rivatv
NVRM: was loaded and obtained ownership of the NVIDIA device(s).
[ 12.890180] NVRM: Try unloading the conflicting kernel module (and/or
NVRM: reconfigure your kernel without the conflicting
NVRM: driver(s)), then try loading the NVIDIA kernel module
               NVRM: again.
[ 12.890180] NVRM: No NVIDIA devices probed.

This warning is issued by the x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers kernel module, which means that you have both the kernel's nouveau driver and the proprietary x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers driver installed. You should probably do what the warning suggests: blacklist one of the drivers or simply uninstall x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers as your VIDEO_CARDS setting suggests you do not want to use it anyway. I see no bug here.
Comment 4 Paulo J. Matos 2019-12-05 15:40:11 UTC
Thanks for the comments - however I don't have nvidia-driver installed. I have now also blacklisted nvidia to no avail.
Comment 5 Paulo J. Matos 2019-12-05 15:40:54 UTC
... in any case, I will look for help outside this bug report as I agree with you. This doesn't look like a bug given the extract of log you pointed me to. Thanks.

That output I quoted _is_ from the x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers kernel module, which means it is currently installed. Note that uninstalling the x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers does not remove the kernel modules in /lib/modules/<version>/video/nvidia* : you have to remove those manually.

Wow - ok, you are right. That I didn't know. Thanks.
