Description Ulf Bartelt (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-08-22 06:03:03 UTC
it would be really nice if the symlinks (/usr/portage/packages/cathegory/*)
would be relative ones instead of absolute ones.

background: i have package dirs for many different cpu types here (10 at this
moment) and i mount the one i need on the target system.

so on the server where the packages dirs are kept and exported, the absolute
links are pointing to the packages dir the server uses instead of pointing to
the target that is meant.

this is not dramatic but relative links would be really nice, especially because
i give others ftp and rsync access to my tbz2s and they can only get the right
file via the All/ dir...

Will be fixed in Portage 2.0.35. Thanks :)
