Actual Results: maybe problems with applications Expected Results: unmerge older libraries ~x86
What version of portage were you using when you upgraded (post 'emerge info' please)? The reason I ask is ebuilds themselves don't do anything about removing previous versions, thats the job of portage.
i was using portage 2.0.51 Portage 2.0.51 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.3.20040420-r1, 2.6.8-gentoo-r6 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.8-gentoo-r6 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) processor Gentoo Base System version 1.5.3 distcc 2.16 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r5 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 Binutils: sys-devel/binutils-2.14.90.0.8-r1 Headers: sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.4.21-r1 Libtools: sys-devel/libtool-1.5.2-r5 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-mmmx -m3dnow -march=athlon-tbird -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-addr -falign-functions=4 -maccumulate-outgoing-args" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-mmmx -m3dnow -march=athlon-tbird -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-addr -falign-functions=4 -maccumulate-outgoing-args" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs candy ccache distlocks fixpackages sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.mirror.sdv.fr/ ftp://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.gentoo.skynet.be//gentoo/ http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage /usr/local/bmg-main" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X Xaw3d aalib alsa apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo cdr crypt cscope cups curl dga direcb directfb dvd emacs encode esd ethereal evo f77 faac faad fbcon flac foomaticdb gd gdbm ggi gif gnome gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile imlib jack java jpeg kde kerberos ladcca lcms libg++ libwww mad maildir mbox mcal mikmod mmx motif mozilla mpeg mysql nas ncurses nls odbc oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl ploturils png ppds python qt qtmt quicktime readline ruby samba scanner sdl slang spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd tiff truetype usb videos wmf wxwindows x86 xface xine xml xml2 xmms xosd xprint xv xvid zlib"
wxgtk 2.4.1-r1 has been removed from portage and I can't duplicate this behavior. If anyone else has this problem, please feel free to re-open this.
