When I try to run hald initscript or hald directly it segments faults when starting. Here is the error: 16:28:44.709 [I] callout.c:332: Invoking /etc/hal/device.d/40-hal-hotplug-map.ha l 16:28:44.711 [I] hald.c:80: Added device to GDL; udi=/org/freedesktop/Hal/device s/block_aa167c3e-e065-4929-a4f8-3a24fc36d990 16:28:44.711 [I] linux/osspec.c:754: handling /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f .0 pci 16:28:44.715 [I] callout.c:332: Invoking /etc/hal/device.d/50-fstab-sync.hal 16:28:44.716 [I] callout.c:332: Invoking /etc/hal/device.d/40-hal-hotplug-map.ha l 16:28:44.717 [I] hald.c:80: Added device to GDL; udi=/org/freedesktop/Hal/device s/pci_8086_24cc 16:28:44.717 [I] linux/osspec.c:754: handling /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1e .0 pci 16:28:44.722 [I] callout.c:332: Invoking /etc/hal/device.d/50-fstab-sync.hal 16:28:44.724 [I] callout.c:332: Invoking /etc/hal/device.d/40-hal-hotplug-map.ha l 16:28:44.727 [I] hald.c:80: Added device to GDL; udi=/org/freedesktop/Hal/device s/pci_8086_2448 16:28:44.727 [I] linux/osspec.c:754: handling /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1e .0/0000:02:0b.0 pci Segmentation fault The 0000:02:0b.0 device where HAL dies is integrated wireless card: 0000:02:0b.0 Network controller: Intel Corp. same error here with intel wireless 2200bg card
seems to be fixed in latest cvs (try http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_ivman )
This is tracked upstream as http://www.bughost.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=296
Should be fixed in sys-apps/hal-0.4.0 - reporter, please confirm.
