Description Charo I. Del Genio 2017-10-29 17:09:37 UTC
As per description, Kodi stopped playing bluray menus starting from version 17. Previous versions had no problems. I think this *may* be related to the thread at https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=303932 but I'm not really sure about it. The symptoms are the same. The menu sound plays and loops, but the actual menu entries do not appear. All the releases of version 17 are affected, namely 17.3, 17.3-r1, 17.4, 17.4-r1 and 17.5-r1. Since the problem has been around for a while, does anyone have a workaround or any idea of when it is going to be fixed? Again, please note that menus were working fine in version 16, so this is some bug that has been introduced in the newer versions.

Comment 2 Craig Andrews gentoo-dev 2017-10-30 14:09:30 UTC
Unfortunately, I don't have a bluray player (or any media) so I can't reproduce this or otherwise really help.

The issue was reported upstream: https://trac.kodi.tv/ticket/17299

There, it is suggested that this issue was fixed in Kodi 18, but upstream wasn't able to isolate the change that fixed the issue and aren't interested in investing more time to do so. Therefore, I doubt this will be fixed in 17... you'll have to wait for 18.

Can you please test with Kodi 18 (with it kodi-9999 right now) and see if the issue is indeed fixed?
Comment 3 Charo I. Del Genio 2017-10-30 16:15:22 UTC
OK, I cannot try with kodi-9999 because it segfaults as soon as I click "play disk". What I get is

mesa: for the -simplifycfg-sink-common option: may only occur zero or one times!
Segmentation fault

and I have no clue what this is due to.
Comment 4 Craig Andrews gentoo-dev 2018-11-18 03:19:57 UTC
Can you please try again with the latest Kodi version (currently media-tv/kodi-18.0_beta5)?

It works now with media-tv/kodi-18.0_beta5-r1. I'm closing the bug.
