www-client/seamonkey-2.48 and 2.49.3.0_p0 after upgrading from libav-11.8 to libav-12.2 no longer play H.264 videos.

about:support now says "Failed to create H264 decoder" and https://www.youtube.com/html5 lists H.264 as unsupported.

Upstream bug report is marked as fixed, so how difficult is it to backport it to seamonkey?

The commit from upstream hg does not apply cleanly to the old branch that seamonkey-2.49 is based on.

However, there is a bug report in Arch Linux which contains a modified patch that applies and seems to work.

This patch is only good for ffmpeg-4 not ffmpeg-4.1. Current ~testing versions are not able to use system-libvpx due to this act same issue.
