/var/tmp/portage/sci-astronomy/stellarium-0.16.0-r1/work/stellarium-0.16.0/src/core/StelLocationMgr.cpp: In constructor ‘LibGPSLookupHelper::LibGPSLookupHelper(QObject*)’:

/var/tmp/portage/sci-astronomy/stellarium-0.16.0-r1/work/stellarium-0.16.0/src/core/StelLocationMgr.cpp:56:14: error: ‘class gpsmm’ has no member named ‘is_open’
  if(gps_rec->is_open())

https://fossies.org/dox/gpsd-3.16/classgpsmm.html

Without gps use flag stellarium does not fail.

Can provide more information.
