If OpenLDAP is built with slp USE Flag against openslp 2.0.0 or newer it fails to start with the following error message: ~ # /etc/init.d/slapd start 5908dc47 register_matching_rule: could not locate associated matching rule generalizedTimeMatch for ( 2.5.13.28 NAME 'generalizedTimeOrderingMatch' SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.24 ) slap_schema_init: Error registering matching rule ( 2.5.13.28 NAME 'generalizedTimeOrderingMatch' SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.24 ) 5908dc47 slaptest: slap_schema_init failed slaptest: slap_init failed! * There is a problem with your slapd.conf! * ERROR: slapd failed to start To fix the problem you either have to remove the slp USE Flag from OpenLDAP or according to https://sourceforge.net/p/openslp/bugs/149/ set "-DHAVE_STRNCASECMP" while compiling openslp.
This should be fixed in net-libs/openslp-2.0.0-r5 Please test.
