Description Cal Evans 2004-08-21 08:46:45 UTC
After upgrading to courier-imap from 3.04 to 3.05 I now get an error every time I try to start any of the services:
Error: authdaemond no longer handles its own daemonizing.

I can start the daemon manually using:
/usr/lib/courier-imap/authlib/authdaemond start
but the init script will not start it.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

please attach your /etc/init.d/authdaemond.
post the output of `emerge courier-imap -pv`

The upgrade was from 3.0.2-r1 to 3.0.5.
I also tried 3.0.7 with the same results.

I've reverted back to 3.0.2-r1 so my /etc/init.d/authdaemon is different from the one that was failing.

Here's the output of emerge:
[ebuild U ] net-mail/courier-imap-3.0.5 [3.0.2-r1] +berkdb -debug -fam -ipv6 -ldap +mysql +nls +pam -postgres -(selinux) 0 kB

I believe you failed to etc-update your configuration after upgrading.
you must do this as the init scripts have changed a lot for the new versions.
