something in dep-clean isn't working right as dep-clean -NR returns dev-libs/rep-gtk-0.15-r2 and after emerge -C rep-gtk and emerge rep-gtk (which installed 0.16) it still shows up. somehow dep-clean is thinking an old package is installed that is not, while there is no functionality problems with the 0.16 package. i talked to some people to see if it could be emerge that is missing it, but no where can i find a reference to the old 0.15 package on my system... so i'm not sure where dep-clean could be finding it... any thoughts?
dep-clean isn't actively being maintained anymore. I guess it will go away in the next gentoolkit release. Let me look into its actual state before making the final judgement.
dep-clean provides a functionality found no where else in any of portage or any other tools available. in fact for a real geek who is keeping track of all packages on his system dep-clean is the ONLY way to go since portage is too general in how it updates and cleans ebuilds on the system. if it is true that no one is maintaining this, i will take it over just so that it stays actively maintained... let me know dave
Yes!! Please take over its maintenance if you feel up to it. Check out #6127 in particular. Once you have a fix for the most troublesome aspects, please send attach an updated script to this bugreport.
I'm giving you this one (and a few others). You may want to reassign them back to me with a fix attached, or you may want to make out a new bug-report with new dep-clean that fixes all (or some) of the bugs. Your call.
Dep-clean has been decomissioned and i don't hear any barking so i'm closing all dep-clean related bugs. yell if you want it back!
