since mentioned version, when somebody writes you via chat and you are using facebook.com web page, the page displays system notification (if it's allowed) about the received message but the chat window does not pop up and if you open it, it does not contain the received message. you have to reload the page to get the latest messages displayed. i'm currently at version www-client/chromium-55.0.2859.0 but i first noticed that in version 53* most probably. www-client/google-chrome-53.0.2785.116, www-client/google-chrome-beta-54.0.2840.27 and www-client/google-chrome-unstable-55.0.2859.0 all work fine. www-client/firefox-48.0.1 works fine too. i recompiled chromium using your use flags but it did not help. then i found out it is caused by my chromium configuration. i have by default cookies and scripts disabled and facebook probably changed something so it stopped to work in my restricted browser.

i have cookies and javascript restricted by default but i had exception for https://www.facebook.com:443 for both cookies and javascript. it used to work fine for quite some time. today while looking into the issue more deeply i found out that when pulling chat info, facebook also contacts server 1-edge-chat.facebook.com or something like that so i had to enhance the rules to cover these too. since then it works as expected. anyway, running facebook and google things in different browser or profile would be more secure than this, this way they still can track me pretty well :-)
