After upgrade from exo-0.10.7 to 0.11.0 I noticed that $HOME variable is not set in bash (xfce4-terminal) anymore and this was causing all sort of other problems. Downgrading exo to 0.10.7 brought it back. It looks like exo-0.11.0 does not pass environment to xfce4-terminal (and effectively to bash) and this causes problems. I think this bug may be the issue .. the patch works for the environment issue .. the other .. thunar/exo issue is still open the Bug: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12698 the patch: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/attachment.cgi?id=6740
I can confirm that patch provided fixes environment issue I was experiencing.
It seems to work for me with the patch. I added -r1 and updated the mask for it. Most things seem to work in the terminal and other programs but Thunar is broken still. Clicking on dirs does not open them. The first click works but afterwards no click works. Related to bug: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6230
not quite correct .. only thunar detailed view is effected by bug 6230
