Description Martin Wegner 2016-03-23 16:19:34 UTC
After updates to =app-editors/vim-core-6.4.1583 and =app-editors/vim-7.4.1583, I get the following errors by whenever I open a Latex file:

Afterwards when editing the Latex file, the usual vim-latex features are missing, i. e. most probably not loaded.
Downgrading to =app-editors/vim-core-7.4.1342 and =app-editors/vim-7.4.1342 solves this for me. I found another mention of this at [0] which also states that vim-7.4.1583 needs a patch for this to be fixed.

[0] https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=210453

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade to =app-editors/vim-core-6.4.1583 and =app-editors/vim-7.4.1583 with =app-vim/vim-latex-1.8.23.20141116
2. Open any .latex file
Actual Results:
vim-latex plugin fails to load.

Expected Results:
vim-latex should load and its functionality be available.

Comment 1 Martin Wegner 2016-03-23 16:20:53 UTC
This has to be versions =app-editors/vim-core-7.4.1583 and =app-editors/vim-7.4.1583 in the first line in the report, of course.
Comment 2 Franz Trischberger 2016-03-23 18:10:41 UTC
You might want to give https://github.com/lervag/vimtex a shot, as long as there is no upstream fix for this issue.
Comment 3 Grant Goodyear 2016-04-12 19:48:04 UTC
Here's the Arch linux bug report: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/48670

According to their bug report, it's a vim problem, not a vim-latex problem. Updating vim to 7.4.1639 seemed to fix things for them.

Incidentally, vim-latex still works fine with neovim-0.1.2.
Comment 4 hangglider 2016-04-26 10:01:09 UTC
Same happens here.
Comment 5 Grant Goodyear 2016-05-13 19:30:25 UTC
Seems to be fixed with [g]vim-7.4.1821. After updating, I can open a .tex file without any errors popping up, and vim-latex seems to be working fine.
Comment 6 Tim Harder gentoo-dev 2017-10-08 18:23:52 UTC
Closing as this should probably be fixed with recent vim versions in the tree.
