if reimbursement isn't a big deal, i wouldn't mind buying it sooner and waiting for repayment. the trustees seem to prefer direct purchases ...
Its fine by me, if you don't hear anything sooner I added it to the March 27th Trustee meeting agenda. https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Foundation:Meetings/2016/03
Here's the other server I'd like us to get our hands on for AArch64: https://www.qualcomm.com/news/onq/2016/03/09/qualcomm-and-red-hat-collaborate-advance-arm-server-software-ecosystem https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/red-hat-enterprise-linux-server-arm-development-preview-jon-masters-6113196861772881920 I'm approaching it from the RedHat side, but maybe vapier has some connections on the hardware side so we can get one there.
vapier: I haven't gotten any response from Redhat about the Qualcomm server. Can you please confirm that you still want the APM X-C1 box, and trustees should be able to action the purchase this week (just about to be unblocked).
vapier: FYI, AVNET presently says that order lead time is 112 days, so if you have another vendor with stock, please point us to them.
vapier: reping on confirmation of server purchase please, so we can go ahead with it.
vapier: reping
vapier: You still haven't responded to trustees about the AVNET lead time issue; it's now up to 120-180 days lead time at AVNET. In the meantime, I also today saw a closer match to what you wanted now, actually on-market, and cheaper. See the Overdrive 3000 below (also included the 1000 model which may be sufficient for your needs). http://softiron.co.uk/products/#developersolutions https://shop.softiron.co.uk/product/overdrive-1000/ https://shop.softiron.co.uk/product/overdrive-3000/
vapier, arm64: I have heard no response from you; and now I have established a cloud solution for this problem, please see further email on the releng@ list, i'm not publishing the sponsors name in this bug yet.
sorry, wrong status
i've received two aarch64 systems from Google (chromebooks) for Gentoo. i'll see about converting them to standard Gentoo and hosting one on OSU. i saw the thread on releng@, but it didn't seem to have connection details.
