Created attachment 412270 [details] Output of ‘t a a bt’ in GDB after Firefox crashed. I experience random crashes with Firefox (www-client/firefox-40.0.3) with a SIGSEGV. From the description in the comments of bug 558150 and the backtrace which I captured, it seems to be a different problem, but I am not sure. It was noticeable that the time until a crash greatly increased when I removed the ‘jit’ use flag. I’ll attach the emerge --info and the stack trace obtained using GDB.
Created attachment 412272 [details] Output of ‘emerge --info www-client/firefox’ on the test box where I saw the Firefox crashes.
Created attachment 412276 [details] Another stack trace. Different cause? Uh-oh, it seems that there are several different bugs leading to crashes. As I don’t want to spam Bugzilla with duplicates, I’m attaching the next stack trace to this bug (as its title currently says “random crashes” anyway) until someone with more knowledge of what’s going on had the chance to look into it.
Have you experienced crashes with previous Firefox version?
I also have random crashes that seems to have something to do with JS garbage collector. There was an open bug at Bugzilla. I attached my log there: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1174997
I've just browsed the comments to bug 558150 and I think there is a problem with thread synchronization somewhere. Comment https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=558150#c10 says to turn off an option for off-main-thread composition for the 40.0.2 bug. I'll see if disabling this option helps with my random crashes.
