gcc-3.1-r7 is missing libstdc++.la and libtool is looking for it for some applications. According to carp's locatedb... it appeared to be there for -r6 but his database was out of date and it was from around the time when he had -r6 emerged so it's just a guess. /usr/lib/libstdc++.la btw... libstdc++.a is there.
kdelibs doesn't compile without libstdc++.la
Turns out that lostlogic's first revision of -r7 was broken and I had emerged that. He then later fixed it on CVS and I never remerged it.
