i've considered how selfish and elitist this is. but i would love for nvme support in the default kernel for live iso cd&dvd. it's not that i can't make it for myself. other people might need it, and might not be just as handy as i am. since intel 750 series in quite affordable, i think it should be in mainstream kernel for live image.
not selfish or elitist at all, since the Samsung 950 pro series is quite affordable too ;) I fixed it by using the arch-linux install image instead of gentoo minimal install (being too lazy to modify gentoo image on a mac-os-x laptop, was out of my environment when setup happened). I would love to use the minimal image for the next project that'll install onto nvme, so I second that motion. BTW it's only one flag to enable: "Device Drivers" -> "Block devices" -> "NVM Express block device" or BLK_DEV_NVME=y

As mentioned in Bug 579436, the Admin CD contains NVMe support (and the Install CD will probably be updated at the next release).

Closing as we've built a few CDs since.
