Only the reported error line changes. With 2.4.6 (and 2.5.0) it is possible to convert the repository if we drop the --preserve-empty-dirs option (not tried for 2.3.6). However, the resulting GIT repositories will obviously not restore empty directories for existing tags or branches anymore i.e. we can no longer reproduce properly old versions, since those directories are used by our build system to trigger profiles.
