Description Shawn Kovalchick 2015-07-29 03:34:12 UTC
This is a fresh install. POLICY_TYPES="targeted" has been added to /etc/portage/make.conf. At some point, sec-policy/selinux-base-2.20141203-r6 was reinstalled. As a result, the /etc/selinux/strict directory was removed. sys-apps/checkpolicy-2.4 relies on this directory and its installation fails with the following error:

/etc/selinux/strict/contexts/files/file_contexts: No such file or directory

Comment 2 Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2016-10-13 16:32:18 UTC
Hi Shawn,

Sorry for the very very late answer. I was wondering if you (think) you still have this issue, or if you can remember a bit more than what you have given so far?

We have since moved to checkpolicy 2.5, with 2.6 waiting around the corner. I don't see anything in the git logs that would point to this. But the ebuild also doesn't do anything with the file_contexts file at all.

I did a quick look at the checkpolicy code itself (current live, so 2.6_rc2 based) but can't really find anything that would relate to this. The ChangeLog also doesn't contain such information.

If you can't remember or can't reproduce, I'm probably going to close the bug.
Comment 3 Shawn Kovalchick 2016-10-13 16:43:50 UTC
I was able to get it working eventually, but I'm not sure how. I may have had to configure it to use build both profiles. I think it had something to do with selinux-base being reinstalled with the targeted policy, but checkpolicy still being installed with the strict policy. At any rate, I'm not even at that position any more and would not be able to investigate further. You can probably close this.
Comment 4 Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2016-10-23 08:14:13 UTC
Well, afaik, checkpolicy does not build for a particular policy store, which is a bit why I find it difficult to debug (not without additional loggins).

Going to close it as WORKSFORME. Don't hesitate to reopen (you or someone else) if you hit the issue again, and don't forget to include more logging/details.
