When emerging texlive-core the package message states:

 * If you are migrating from an older TeX distribution
 * Please make sure you have read:
 * http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/tex/texlive-migration-guide.xml
 * in order to avoid possible problems
 * 

That link leads to a 404 error.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge app-text/texlive-core-2014-r4
Actual Results:  
 * Messages for package app-text/texlive-core-2014-r4:

 * 
 * If you have configuration files in /etc/texmf to merge,
 * please update them and run /usr/sbin/texmf-update.
 * 
 * If you are migrating from an older TeX distribution
 * Please make sure you have read:
 * http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/tex/texlive-migration-guide.xml
 * in order to avoid possible problems
 * 
 * TeXLive has been split in various ebuilds. If you are missing a
 * package to process your TeX documents, you can install
 * dev-tex/texmfind to easily search for them.
 * 


Expected Results:  
Either the links should be removed or updated.

It seems the message was relevant around 2009

Are you sure we need to still show that elog message? I wonder how many people is still needing to migrate from old tetex and co. to texlive :/

the elog message as such: clearly no. but it could be replaced by "troubleshooting", since texlive is quite sensible to stray files leftover & co (causes build failures)

OK, then, maybe this can be used as a starting point:

It should probably be reduced a lot for dropping the instructions to come from tetex... in that case it could be renamed too for covering only the "Common problems" stuff :/, but that would be your call as you are the expert on tex :)
