Description Phil Tooley 2015-06-01 13:03:00 UTC
Attempting to install sys-cluster/openmpi-1.8.5 results in portage refusing to install due to file collisions with app-text/lcdf-typetools.

File in question is /usr/bin/otfinfo

I too have this problem, but here are my file conflicts.
lcdf-typetools will fail if you install openmpi first.

Detected file collision(s):
 *
 * 	/usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/otfinfo.debug
 * 	/usr/bin/otfinfo

This is weird because:

Dependencies

app-text / lcdf-typetools : Font utilities for eg manipulating OTF

lcdf-typetools is listed as a dependency of openmpi.
Comment 3 Gabriel Homeier 2015-07-25 01:02:38 UTC
I have installed openmpi along with lcdf-typetools now.
I disabled the USE="vt" flag.
you don't want to use a bundled VampirTrace.

[-] vt -- (sys-cluster/openmpi) Enable bundled VampirTrace support

built and installed with lcdf-typetools.
Comment 4 Phil Tooley 2015-08-18 15:40:59 UTC
I can confirm that this problem is related to emerging openmpi with USE="vt" to enable vampirtrace. If I disable the vt use flag I no longer have the file collision
Comment 5 David Klaftenegger 2016-07-26 19:55:24 UTC
this bug still exists in sys-cluster/openmpi-1.10.2
Comment 6 Justin Bronder (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2016-11-10 14:04:24 UTC
USE=vt removed in OpenMPI 2.0.1
