Description aardvark 2004-06-23 13:09:04 UTC
From my digicam I get a lot of images with a size of around 1.5 MB. De default preview file size limit for konqueror is set to 1 mb. You can change it however in setting -> configure konqueror -> Previews&Meta-data to any size you want. After changing this to say 2 mb, however no previews are generated at all anymore. Also when setting it back to 1 mb will not recover

Why I post this here? Well, in knoppix it works just fine with the same KDE version. That more or less makes it a Gentoo problem, although I havent tested every distro out there of course.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.turn on image previewing
2.set the max file size to something bigger
3.try to get previews.

Actual Results:
No more previews.

In three independent gentoo installs

Expected Results:
Show my digicam picture in birdseye view.

Can confirm this problem. After enabling the "local protocols" checkbox tree in the file preview dialog everything works fine again. Unfortunately we don't have the time to search and forward every user sumbmitted bug report. If you could find out (with a new user or temporary moved ~/.kde-3.3) that the empty protocols tree is default in KDE 3.3 , then it is worth filing a bug report at bugs.kde.org imho. Would you do that in that case?

Yeah that fixes it! Now why didn't I try that... ;-)

I will look at a new user account. If the problem persists I will file a bug a t kde
