When emerging gnome-1.4* (_not_ gnome2), it pulls in libglade-2.0.x as a
dependency. Later in the merging process, it will break at gnome-core not
finding >=libglade-0.14.

This must be fixed so that either 1) >=libglade-0.14 is pulled in instead of
>=libglade-2 or 2) only ( >=libglade-0.14 <libglade-2 ) is pulled in (this
depends on the actual dependencies so I can't really tell).

partially attended... now emerge -e galeon wont drag in any gnome2 stuff at least :)

Gnome 1.4 yes, Gnome 2 no.

the fixes were mainly to Gnome 1.4 files as to not depend on >=foo-1.0 
<foo-1.99.0 since the recent portage breaks with this

Confirmed this bug.  The ebuild assumes that libglade 2.0 will meet the  dependency of gnome-core-1.4, and yet libglade 1.7 (current one) is needed.   Bug is worked around by ebuild libglade-1.7.. merge, then everything works,  but this stinks when trying to build a fresh Gentoo 1.4 system overnight!!!         Jamon

This bug is now all fixed. please reopen if you find any inconsistencies
