It looks like a small number of dev-go/ packages are in the tree https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/tree/dev-go Would dev-vcs/git-lfs-bin package make sense here to avoid installing Go just for this tool?
GitLab also supports Git LFS since version 8.2
