Dear Recruiters, I would like to introduce Daniel Campbell (zlg) to you. He has been in Gentoo community for years, and contributed in many areas. He holds interest in OpenRC and eudev. But as a starting point, he is going to join the Game herd. During our interaction, he shows his ability to maintain ebuilds and to get information and help. Both him and Gentoo will benefit by recruiting Daniel. Please kindly consider Daniel's application. @Daniel, please email your answer to the quiz to the recruiters directly. Whenever you send anything, please also make a comment on this bug to track our progress. Thank you very much as always. Benda Reproducible: Always
Daniel, please also answer the end quiz https://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/quiz/end-quiz.txt And send it to me for review.
I have sent my ebuild quiz to the Recruiters team, signed with my GPG key as per policy. I will begin studying and answering the end quiz.
Name: Daniel Campbell Nick: zlg Mentor: heroxbd Areas of contributions: Various, eudev, games Tree access: Yes
I have completed my first attempt at the end quiz and submitted it to Benda for review.
I have sent my end quiz answers to the Recruiting team for review.
I will be your recruiter. Please contact me by email to schedule the first review session. If you think that recruiters aren't paying attention to this bug at any later point in time, it's your job to ping us on IRC if you don't want any delays.
My recruiter and I reviewed my ebuild quiz answers on 2015-04-13. We discussed a few points and refinements to be added to my ebuild quiz, which have been amended and resubmitted to both my mentor and recruiter.
The second review session (held on 2015-04-16) was held and the resulting ebuild quiz changes have been submitted to my mentor and recruiter.
My recruiter and I went over the ebuild quiz again today. We will proceed with reviewing the end quiz starting with our next session. My mentor has been e-mailed the quiz changes.
I have e-mailed my revised ebuild quiz, end quiz, and test ebuild to the recruiters team.
Another recruiter and I went over my test task and some additional questions today per zlogene's approval. I have updated my answers and sent them to recruiters.
What we did: - LDAP - bugzilla - cvs group on cvs.gentoo.org - sent you your LDAP/mail password via encrypted mail Pending: - announcement - IRC cloak Automatic: - gentoo-core - gentoo-dev-announcement What you need to do: - subscribe to mailing lists with your @gentoo.org address - request forum status bump in #gentoo-forums or by mail to forum-mods@gentoo.org (if you have a forums account) - send yourself mail to check if it works - add yourself to mail aliases ( like java@gentoo.org ) see /var/mail/alias on dev.gentoo.org - ask team leads to add yourself to herds.xml for the herds you want to join or do it yourself if you have the permission to do so - Register to wiki.gentoo.org with your @gentoo.org e-mail address using the following instructions: https://wiki.gentoo.org/getting-started - set lat and lon attributes in LDAP if you want others to know where exactly you are located - set gentooIM if you want people to be able to contact you via other means than email - If you want your blog to be syndicated to planet.gentoo.org, check http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/userrel/planet/index.xml - contact trustees@gentoo.org for Foundation membership (optional) For the mentor: - You are also responsible for the commits of your recruit during the first month so you should watch the commits of your recruit via gentoo-commits mailing list.
I have successfully completed these tasks: * Created a wiki account, tied to LDAP * Changed forum username, attached "Dev" badge * Logged onto dev.gentoo.org, updated some LDAP details, changed password to a private value * Subscribed to -dev, -dev-announce, -announce, -project, and eudev mailing lists. * Confirmed sending and receiving e-mail works correctly in my e-mail client * Updated my GPG key to include zlg@gentoo.org as a UID (Available at MIT and keys.gnupg.net) * Acquired IRC cloak I will be consulting the games and wiki teams asap to request membership to the herds, as I don't want to add myself without understanding the responsibilites implied.
> Pending: > - announcement > - IRC cloak Done. Welcome!
Congratulations Daniel, finally we made it. Thanks Mikle for your excellent work.
Per last email sent to gentoo-project ML it seems he will retire. We will give him the usual 15 days to reconsider :/
I've had a few discussions with people and have decided to rescind terminating my position as Developer. I will follow-up on my e-mail when I get home tonight to make it official. I do not expect "my packages" or Trustee-hood to be returned, or any such special treatment. I need time to think about how I can best contribute to free software. To that end, perhaps devaway is a better solution and avoids throwing away effort.
Nice to know If you want to let others to get some of your packages, I think the best option will be to send a mail with "up for grabs" packages
I think it's time to throw in the towel. I haven't committed anything in seven months. I don't feel positive when I think about contributing to Gentoo, and I can't keep pretending that it's going to get better. It's time for me to accept that I'm not cut out for this stuff.

It's sad to see this. But all the best.
