Description Rainer Herrendoerfer 2015-02-21 08:16:07 UTC
Installation on an amd64 EFI-system following the instruction in the handbook

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Full/Installation

grub will emerge for x86 and thus moaning about missing /usr/lib/x86_64-efi directory when running grub2-install.
The solution is already provided in the grub2 wiki:

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/GRUB2

You have to set GRUB_PLATFORMS="efi-64" in the /etc/portage/make.conf.
Could you please include that information in the installation handbook.

Grknight added information to the Handbook that resolved this bug before me, however I further addressed the issue by adding some more clarity to the EFI install section of the AMD64 Handbook.
