Created attachment 395814 [details] build.log Emerging autogen with tests enabled to stabilize bug #492522 ends up with numerous test failures, some of them maybe related to bug #467156 as test-suite.log shows that guile is indeed involved. Émeric

Please post your `emerge -vpq dev-scheme/guile' output in a comment. It looks like guile segfaults before it can even begin to test anything, so the problem is probably there and not in autogen.

Sure, but it'll probably be a duplicate of bug #467156: [ebuild R ] dev-scheme/guile-1.8.8-r1 USE="deprecated nls regex threads -debug -debug-freelist -debug-malloc -discouraged -emacs -networking" Émeric

Please try to obtain a gdb backtrace using the same command that the test suite is calling.
(In reply to Jeroen Roovers from comment #7) > > No, it isn't. guile segfaulting is not what is causing bug #467156. Please > try to obtain a gdb backtrace using the same command that the test suite is > calling. I've recompiled guile with debug symbols. As a double-check, I first ensure that emerging autogen again with the recompiled guile fails the same. It was. Then, looking at test-suite.log, I first tried to obtain a backtrace of the first failing test: alias.test. As a double-check, I ran alias.test, expecting it to segfault. Nope, it completed successfully (well, I think) with the following output: longspeak test # ./alias.test creating alias.def in /var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/autogen-5.18.1/work/autogen-5.18.1/autoopts/test/alias-testd test_main YES argument arg [...] long_opts YES -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 464 Feb 16 00:52 alias.def run_ag ao alias.def creating alias-1.help alias error: only one option option allowed test_alias - Test AutoOpts for alias Usage: alias [ -<flag> [<val>] | --<name>[{=| }<val>] ]... arg [...] Flg Arg Option-Name Description -o Str option The option option descrip -s Num second The second option descrip -a Str a-opt an alias for the 'option' option -b Num b-second an alias for the 'second' option -? no help display extended usage information and exit -! no more-help extended usage information passed thru pager Options are specified by doubled hyphens and their name or by a single hyphen and the flag character. exit 1 ./defs: line 97: 18987 Killed thumper alias done I then tried yet another failing test: main.test. It also seems to complete successfully: longspeak test # ./main.test creating main.def in /var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/autogen-5.18.1/work/autogen-5.18.1/autoopts/test/main-testd test_main yes argument long_opts -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 425 Feb 16 00:53 main.def run_ag ao main.def creating main.hlp ./defs: line 97: 19289 Killed thumper main done I then individually ran every each test. All were ending with the same pattern: ./defs: line 97: PID Killed thumper TESTNAME done I suppose that TESTNAME done means that the test completed at least without crashing, right? For completeness, I nevertheless ran guile from gdb and entered the guile commands of alias.test as logged in test-suite.log and that supposedly triggered the segfault. Nope, everything ran flawlessly. Does all the above mean that the tests pass flawlessly when invoked from /var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/autogen-5.18.1/work/autogen-5.18.1/autoopts/test? What's then the difference during emerge, as I wasn't able to reproduce the segfault? Is it really guile segfaulting during emerge? Émeric
Tests pass for me on ia64 with sys-devel/autogen-5.18.4
(In reply to Matt Turner from comment #9) > Tests pass for me on ia64 with sys-devel/autogen-5.18.4 Not on my side: exactly the same errors two years later :-( Émeric
