Newer versions of BOINC and a few other packages ask for a static set of wxGTK libraries under Gentoo. I could do the work of manually generating a static vesion of wxGTK, but I'm still not sure enough of portage internals to try adding a USE flag; it seems easy enough, but my first tries have not been successful. Reproducible: Always
Seems irrelevant now. I am using the BOINC ebuild from SEden's layman overlay and it desn't seem to require a static wxwidges build. (BOINC folks probably are being overcautious or don't know that a shared lib of WXWidges works fine for recent versions.) I would suggest that the BOINC maintainers adopt the seden overlay ebuilds and bring the Gentoo BOINC up to date. I will submit this as a seperate bug.
Reopen if the situation changes.
