It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in
the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
not be installed simultaneously.

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

Can anybody enlighten me, why this is a conflict? The package for intended installation (openpyxl-1.9.0) is smaller than openpyxl-2.0 and larger than openpyxl-1.6.1.

On an other system, where I removed openpyxl, I get now:

Comment 6 Justin Lecher (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-12-12 11:13:11 UTC
this bug is fixed. Nevertheless it seems to be a problem with portage.

Juergen, please sync and try again.

@portage devs,

Following restriction seem to create a problem

>=dev-python/openpyxl-1.6.1[${PYTHON_USEDEP}]
<=dev-python/openpyxl-2.0[${PYTHON_USEDEP}]
!~dev-python/openpyxl-1.9.0[${PYTHON_USEDEP}]

Could you please check that. You need to add those deps back to the pandas ebuild, as I already removed them, because they are unnecessary. Nevertheless, they should resolve well.

After the last 'emerge --sync' 'emerge -uvND world' is not more interested to install openpyxl-1.9.0 but again openpyxl-2.1.0. This works so far without any slot conflicts.
