I'm trying to package the current version of this library (2.7) for my overlay. Unfortunately the archive seems to be mirrored by Gentoo mirrors with another content than the one from Github:
https://github.com/gperftools/gperftools/releases/download/gperftools-2.7/gperftools-2.7.tar.gz
vs.
http://distfiles.gentoo.org/distfiles/gperftools-2.7.tar.gz

Especially the top level directory of the gentoo mirrored version has a very strange name.

Is there a reason for this?

We have dev-util/google-perftools in tree.
