syslog gets inundated with useless messages with the default --log-level setting. This used to be set to "critical", but as of 3.1 it's suddenly "notice", which gets you lots of these: (dcc_job_summary) client: nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn:port COMPILE_OK exit:0 sig:0 core:0 ret:0 time:173ms x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc /var/tmp/portage/media-video/ffmpeg-1.0.8/temp/ffconf.JDxgMmXL.c It should probably be at least "warning" to get rid of messages for successful jobs. Users who want or need to debug distcc might want to deviate from that proper default.
