This is a new ebuild for xpdf which uses ghostscript T1 fonts which look much nicer, as advised in http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf/problems.html#t1lib-base14 . This adds a dependency on app-text/ghostscript. It also fixes a bug in the current ebuild which misses the xpdfrc.5 manpage.

HINT: To have even nicer results add these lines to your ~/.xpdfrc

 include /etc/xpdfrc
 t1libControl high
 freetypeControl high

Sorry about the first comment formatting. I'm testdriving galeon2 (which still has some annoying bugs that prevent to use it for certain things such as cut'n'paste!) plus every single other browser as an alternative (which seem to have their fair share of bugs too!)...
Could you repaste your last line in your intial text? Im having some trouble reading the text with the control characters in it.
