Description Corné Driesprong 2002-07-09 04:25:12 UTC
I updated portage doing the following:

# cd /usr/portage/sys-apps/portage
# emerge portage

My current version is now 2.0.11

Now, when I try to install a package, I get this error:

# emerge <package>
Calculating dependencies \portage: aux_get(): couldn't open cache entry for
<package>
(likely caused by syntax error or corruption in the <package>)

I get this with every package I try to install. I tried things like "emerge --
clean rsync" and giving the absolute path, but it doesn't work. I'm stuck now,
can't install anything...

I'd like to ssh into your box to figure out why this is going on. Please
contact me via irc or email.

ok, this was because your wheel group didn't exist. Fixed on bug reporter's
machine. I need to add a test to see if the wheel group exists.

emerge will detect a missing wheel group in portage 2.0.12
