I can't access the help files in gimp 2.0pre3. When clicking on the help button I get an error saying that '/usr/share/gimp/1.3/help/gimp-help.xml' does not exist (and it doesn't). I have version 2.0 of the gimp-user-manual installed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start the gimp 2. In the help menu, choose help 3. Actual Results: I get an error saying that '/usr/share/gimp/1.3/help/gimp-help.xml' does not exist Expected Results: started the help system emerge info: Portage 2.0.50-r1 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.2-r9, 2.6.1) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.1 i686 AMD Duron(tm) Processor Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.13 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.58-r1 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.7.7 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -foptimize-sibling-calls" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control"CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X aalib alsa apm avi berkdb bonobocdr cdr crypt cups encode esd foomaticdb gdbm gif gnome gpm gtk gtk2 guile imlib java jpeg libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mozilla mpeg ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png postgres python quicktime readline scanner sdl slang spell ssl svga tcpd tetex truetype x86 xml2 xv zlib"
I concur. I see this as well. bash-2.05b# emerge info Portage 2.0.50-r1 (default-x86-2004.0, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.2-r9, 2.6.3-gentoo-r1) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.3-gentoo-r1 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) Processor Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.13 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.58-r1 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.7.7 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-tbird -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-tbird -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/pub/linux/gentoo http://mirrors.tds.net/gentoo http://www.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X Xaw3d aalib acpi alsa apache2 apm arts artswrappersuid atlas avi berkdb bonobo cdr crypt cups curl dedicated directfb emacs encode fbcon flac foomaticdb gd gdbm geoip gif gimpprint gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile imap imlib java javascript joystick jpeg kde ldap libg++ libwww mad maildir mbox mcal mmx motif mozcalendar mozilla mozp3p mozsvg mpeg mpi mysql nas ncurses nls nntp offensive ofx oggvorbis opengl operanom2 oss pam pda pdflib perl pic plotutils png postgres ppds python qt quicktime readline samba sasl sdl slang spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype type1 usb v4l wmf wxwindows x86 xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib"
I think gimp-help might be separate from gimp. ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/help/testing/ http://wiki.gimp.org/gimp/GimpDocs
The help files are avaible at ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/help/testing/gimp-help-2-0.2.tar.gz to install one simply needs to download, then configure, make, make install. Should this be part of the gimp ebuild or should it be a seperate ebuild?
help will be added to the gimp ebuild when it reaches stability.
(REMIND :) gimp2 is out from a while, now. so, what about fixing the ebuild? btw, should a new bug be opened for that, or just reopening this will be ok? I think that the "doc" USE flag should also build the help. thanks!
Resolution of this bug can now be changed to "resolved fixed" (for sure in Gimp 2.0.4).
so true.. just closing will suffice. tnx
