Description heiheiwc 2012-10-14 05:26:57 UTC
Window tears when I drag a window and move it quickly.
I'm using Gnome-2.32.1 and my video card is Intel Sandy Bridge.
Comment 1 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-10-14 18:16:07 UTC
First, please provide the following information:
the output of "emerge --info xorg-server mesa xf86-video-intel"; kernel version; whether window tearing affects all windows, or only some applications; whether window tearing happens only in gnome-2 when using metacity, or also under other non-composited window managers (e.g. fluxbox).

Second, consider switching to a composited window manager. If you want to stick with gnome-2, try x11-wm/compiz. Or try xfce-base/xfwm4 with USE=xcomposite from xfce4. You may also want to update to gnome-3 (you will need to set unstable ACCEPT_KEYWORDS).

Thanks for replying. I'v added the emerge --info information just now. And I tried fluxbox and openbox, window tearing also appears when moved fast, Just like metacity.

Please try a *composited* window manager. fluxbox and openbox are *not* composited window managers.

Cheers

Per last comment, that was over a year ago.
