Description Torsten Veller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-09-01 06:52:52 UTC
* LICENSE

The license as-is is wrong.
BSD-2 seems to match best:
http://cpansearch.perl.org/src/TURNSTEP/DBIx-Safe-1.2.5/LICENSE
http://bucardo.org/dbix_safe/license.html
http://cpansearch.perl.org/src/TURNSTEP/DBIx-Safe-1.2.5/META.yml (license : bsd)

Ehm, maybe the LICENSE is correct too, or a bit. Who knows? Maybe the author:
"under the same terms as Perl itself" from http://cpansearch.perl.org/src/TURNSTEP/DBIx-Safe-1.2.5/README:

Do you really need this module?

* IUSE

stray test use flag

* RDEPEND

"Current databases supported are: Postgres (DBD::Pg)."
It dies otherwise.

License - I'm not completely sure either. Reading it made me think it's as-is, but if that's wrong we should fix it

Do you really need this module? - Yes, dependency of bucardo

RDEP - let me fix that up then :)

Everything except the license is fixed.

Regarding the license I have no clue. Asking for advice hereby.

The actual Safe.pm file refers to LICENSE. Going by that.

Reopening this until upstream sorts their life out.

Although I think what we've got is acceptable, based on what is installed, its not really clear if this is "license by accident" or "license by intent".

Bug filed upstream, and may appear here one day ...

https://bucardo.org/dbix_safe/bugs.html

My content was:

- LICENSE indicates a BSD-2-clause license
- META.yml confirms with `license: bsd`
- But indicates https://bucardo.org/dbix_safe/license.html , which
includes a MIT like-license
- Safe.pm and Safe.pm.html says to follow what's listed in LICENSE
- README says its licensed under the same terms as Perl 5.8.3 or later
( which is Artistic-1 or GPL-1 OR NEWER )
