Interested in helping with udev and related issues. I'm happy to mentor if required.
Also willing to help out on kernel issues, and driver stuff. Becides my years of kernel experience, I also helped develop the Immunix distro and was the main security contact for it for a number of years, as well as managed the whole distro. So I am very familiar with the tasks involved in putting together and maintaining a distro.
In that case, let's see what the security team has to say.
hm, I'm not saying I want to be on the gentoo security team though :) But I'm already on vendor-sec, if that helps out any.
Actually that is pretty handy, because AFAIK we don't have anyone on there yet. It was particularly annoying for me when all this XFree86 stuff came out, since I maintain it.
no kidding, be great to have you Greg :)
I'd love to see an experienced kernel hacker join the team :) Looking forward to it, Greg.
So what will he be doing with udev exactly? SELinux needs to have something devised to be able to use udev (namely, right now tmpfs doesn't support any kind of labels) which makes it unusable with selinux. Is this something you'd be interested in working on?
Greg, please come to freenode #gentoo-dev and ping seemant, avenj or spyderous. One of us can set you up with autovoice.
Yes, SELinux does need support for udev, I just heard some other distros are also wondering about this too. I don't know if I can do that, but I would be glad to intergrate any changes necessary to the mainline tree.
He's set up
It seems that you don't commit anything to the tree for a long time :/
I might not have committed anything in a while, but I'm here and I don't see anything outstanding that needs only my involvement to fix, do you?
Well, even if I see you mailing in dev list from time to time, the situation is a bit strange because, as you haven't committed anything for 1,5 year and I tend to try to take care of colorhug-client (that is co-maintained by gnome herd), I wasn't sure about the real status :( Also, you have some assigned bugs: https://bugs.gentoo.org/buglist.cgi?email1=gregkh&emailassigned_to1=1&emailtype1=substring&list_id=3175958&query_format=advanced&resolution=--- And, per https://gentoo.org/inside-gentoo/developers/ you are taking care of kernel, but you are not listed as a member in our Kernel project: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Kernel Then, clarifying that would be enough for sure :) You are listed as maintainer of: app-backup/tarsnap app-crypt/efitools app-crypt/pesign app-doc/linux-kernel-in-a-nutshell dev-util/cgvg dev-util/kup dev-util/xxdi dev-vcs/tig media-gfx/colorhug-client net-misc/bti net-misc/curl sys-apps/hwids sys-apps/moreutils sys-fs/sysfsutils sys-kernel/linux-firmware But I think all of them are really being handled by others for a long time. Personally, if you are not taking care of them, I would drop the address from metadata (I can do the job myself if you prefer). And, if you are taking care of the kernel, could you please add you to kernel project? Thanks a lot :)
OK, I will drop you from metadatas and add you to kernel team in a week
- packages and bugs handled, but I cannot add you to kernel project as you don't have a wiki account yet :/
it seems you were added to kernel team finally See you!
