Description Serge Canizares 2004-02-18 09:50:41 UTC
This is an ebuild for the DBD::Sybase perl module.

Sybase is a commercial database frequently used in financial services companies. This ebuild builds the module using the freetds libs, and thus, as a nice consequence, allows perl scripts to use this module to connect to both Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server databases.

Serge

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

I've tested and successfully emerged this ebuild on both intel P3 and P4 computers.
Perl scripts work perfectly with this module.

Comment 2 Michael Cummings (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-27 09:02:03 UTC
Sorry for the delay, but we're trying to locate someone with a sybase db to be able to confirm this is a good ebuild :/
Comment 3 MIchael Peppler 2004-02-28 10:09:45 UTC
It would be better if the ebuild could use the Sybase libraries if they are installed on the system.
The FreeTDS libs, while good, have too many restrictions (in terms of functionality) for serious use against a Sybase database server.

Mass re-assign.

DBD-Sybase-1.07.ebuild

Ebuild for latest version. Amazing how long this bug has survived. :-)

Thanks for making me smile. I suggest you just close it; it clearly doesn't represent a pressing need for attention. ;-)
