dev-qt/qtcore-4.8.0-r1 is no longer in portage tree. Does this problem persist with dev-qt/qtcore-4.8.0-r2 or dev-qt/qtcore-4.8.0-r4?

Yes, sorry, I mean 4.8.4. I have attached a patch for qtcore-4.8.4-r4.ebuild that seems to fix the problem. Please, try it and test qtcore-4.8.4-r4. This is usually a -std=c99 with extensions mismatch, probably solved now we have gcc-5 in the tree.
