I can confirm that, testing with the 'vmware' overlay, I receive the same results, when attempting to install the same (2.0.2.203138-r4) version of VMware Server.
I can confirm the result is exactly the same as of May 2012 - on x86.
Please don't add stabilization teams if you don't know what we do.
vmware server was masked, removed from the tree and overlay, because it's old, unsupported, and has issues.
