An update to chessbrain is in order, since they will be making an attempt at a world record in about a weeks time, and the ebuild currently in Gentoo is non-working (cannot download packages). This ebuild is a bit enhanced from from the original chessbrain-02407 ebuild, mostly because I had difficulties seeing if my installation was working correctly (that is why the LOGFILE option has been added). Also chessbrain.net provides two binaries, one for i586 and one for i686. So I made a switch to download the correct one. However I don't know if this is the Right Way(TM). There will be three files attached to this bug: The new ebuild file, and new conf.d and init.d files.

Not a game. pushing to sci.
weird, i thought it was in a games category :)
My bad, I should have described that chessbrain is a distributed chess playing engine. An even newer version of chessbrain is present from their homepage now, so I have updated the installation package, and made the startup and configuration work easier.

Klaus: please update for the latest release if you're interested in keeping this going. sci: chessbrain hasn't been touched for nearly 2 years, so if it's not active, maybe send it to treecleaner?
sent to treecleaners in bug 155121, for lack of input from anybody.
