Created attachment 287721 [details] List of microemacs variants Our install media currently include app-editors/zile as microemacs, which so far has been a good choice. However: - zile-2.4.1 adds new dependencies, e.g. it depends on dev-libs/boehm-gc unconditionally. - IIUC, the long-term plan for zile is to switch from C to Lua: <http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-zile/2011-03/msg00000.html> Therefore, it may be advisable to switch to another microemacs variant. The Emacs team has looked at the possible alternatives under the following criteria (see attached list): 1. The basic key bindings should be the same as in GNU Emacs. 2. Disk space requirements (including dependencies that are not yet on install media) should be small. 3. The package should be under a free software / open source license. Based on this, we suggest that zile should be replaced by app-editors/mg on install media.
Thanks for the bug report. Fixed.
