While you're at it, modify gnome-base/gnome to depend on kde-base/kde-meta or another DE of your choice, that would have a lot of users scratching their heads :P
Comment 2 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-01 13:39:52 UTC
30 days lastrites enough?
Comment 3 Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-01 13:57:47 UTC
I think we should play it safe and go with 60 days mask.

Updating severity allowing QA to proceed in keywords :)

With Gnome 3 arriving it is really smart move to migrate them to KDE 4 and just be sneaky and convince them that it is gnome.

Only thing we need to do is patch the infowidgets.

Also what is opinion on this from our part of canterbury council? (adding them to cc)
Comment 5 Nirbheek Chauhan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-01 14:38:05 UTC
+1 on this, people who really want to use GNOME should just use the gnome overlay instead, which will soon be renamed to the gnome-sunset overlay.

We need to add this topic to our meeting agenda.

There are no Ks in GNOME. There *is*, however, and E. So clearly, the only logical step is to pkgmove each gnome package to the equivalent e17 package so users can have a delightful, blingy, duke-nukem-forevery experience.
Comment 8 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-01 23:07:35 UTC
Gnome is really the only desktop usable there is, closing wontfix :)

Never hurts to try though...
