i compiled xfree without the savage scaling patch as well (suggestion from vektor from irc.freenode.org/#livid), but i didn't solved anything.

do you have any application which succesfully shows TV? I had a similar problem
and if it's the same problem it's either a hardware problem or a X configuration
problem.

Try ttv from the xawtv package. If that works and shows you an actual image
(rather than just static), then re-open this bug and attach your X configuration
please.

xawtv runs without any problems. i cannot test ttv at the moment cause the harddisk died an i have to reinstall gentoo first. due to my vacation for the next two weeks i will do this in ~3 weeks.

i get the same problem with mandrake 10 community, so i think its really a xfree bug.

Any update to this problem. I'll wait a couple days for a response and then
close since I can't reproduce and there has been no additional information for
many months.

Okay, the I'm going to close it as NEEDINFO, if some else runs into this
same problem and actually happens to look for NEEDINFO bugs, then they
should feel free to re-open this bug and post their information. No need to
have extraneous bugs floating around that can't be solved without more
information.
