This is on a full ~arch system with splashutils compiled with the "fbcondecor gpm mng png truetype" USE flags. What happens is splash theme stays in silent mode at the end of the INIT process and user is forced to type alt+f1 to go into verbose mode. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge =media-gfx/splashutils-1.5.4.3-r3 2. genkernel --splash --splash-theme=<ANY THEME> 3. boot with 'gentoo nox' Actual Results: silent mode stays Expected Results: switch to verbose mode on vt1 after init process finishes.
